About

“Painting is listening to what has not yet been said.”

Painter of slowness in a fast-paced world.

For over thirty years, I have been painting my own universe, where classical themes and contemporary issues converge. My work touches on major contemporary issues such as climate change, war and mass consumption, but perhaps even more so on the inner struggle of human beings to keep up in an ever-faster-paced world.
Using traditional techniques on experimental media, I create layered images that take time to reveal their full beauty. I like to call these “slow paintings”: works that gradually reveal their meaning and encourage viewers to pause, observe, and reflect.

Alongside my artistic practice, I teach drawing. I was the director of an academy for almost ten years, but I consciously chose the freedom of the studio and direct contact with students and the public.
My ideal practice allows room for research, questioning and experimentation, as well as for slowness and meaning. I strive for the broad and sustainable dissemination of my work through exhibitions, artist talks and encounters that not only showcase my work, but also facilitate connections.

My paintings are not mere snapshots; they are encounters in colour, form and thought. They encourage viewers to slow down and open up a space in which meaning can grow.
